Where is home? And what does it look like for people of color, immigrants, and indigenous groups? Now, more than ever, it's important to have this conversation.
BRN GRL SPK presents THIS IS MY HOME (TOO), an art show that examines our country's complicated history with colonialism, slavery, and immigration - and asks questions about what and where home is, who has historically had access to one, and how it shapes one's identity.
The collection will be displayed at Casa Mezcal in Lower Manhattan from Oct 9 - 29. The show's opening night will be on October 9 at 7 PM, and will feature:
SPECIAL PERFORMANCES, including poetry by Ramya Ramana
MUSIC by DJ Tara
DRINK SPECIALS
Proceeds from the show will be donated to Families for Freedom, an NYC organization by and for families facing and fighting deportation - both locally and nationally.
WE WANT TO SHOW YOUR WORK! Submissions for the show are going until October 1. There is no fee to submit work. Apply now.
